Aviation History in the Hill City

Our exhibit Lynchburg Takes Flight: Aviation History in the Hill City opened to the public on June 14 and runs through February 29, 2020. We feature items from the Lynchburg Regional Airport and Piedmont Airlines, as well as local aviators like Lucille Kent and NASA astronaut Leland Melvin. We also play a video interview with Chauncey Spencer discussing his experience paving the way for the Tuskegee Airmen. Uniforms, flight suits, and historic images are on display showcasing the history of flight in Lynchburg.
